This wine was first vinified in 1960 by Max Schubert, Penfolds' legendary head cellar master, who had already created that milestone Australian wine - Penfolds Grange. Bin 389 is considered its little brother. The rather dry fruit of the Cabernet and the juicy fruit bouquet of the Syrah make it a perfectly balanced yet complex wine with character. Ripe tannins and aromas of dark cherry combine with notes of liquorice and vanilla. The finish is long and intensive.
