To create this whisky, Malt Master David Stewart did something that had never been done before: he took The Balvenie® whisky, which is matured in traditional oak casks, and then allowed it to age again in Oloroso sherry casks. This resulted in a unique combination that gets its character from pairing the woods, matching the aromas and continual tasting. On the nose, the whisky is lively with notes of vanilla, cloves and chai as well as earthy, malty undertones. On the palate, there are hints of oat and toffee followed by delicate spice and rich oak notes that last long into the finish.
