One of the first halogen lamps ever, Tizio was developed by Richard Sapper in 1972 and is still one of the most popular lamps today. Winner of many awards, you'll find it in design museums all over the world. The special thing about this lamp is that a designer used a low-voltage halogen lamp here for the first time, which made it possible to use the actual arms of the lamp as electrical conductors. This design means that Tizio doesn't need any complex wiring.
Innovative to this day: a combination of industrial look and elegance
In fact, Sapper just wanted to create a functional lamp for his workspace, but with Tizio he designed a lamp that's lost little of its innovative power to this day. With its long, delicate arms, the finely balanced counterweights and the small lamp head, Tizio comes across as soft and sleek despite its cool, industrial appearance.
