AirPods Pro can be used as Bluetooth® headphones with Apple devices using earlier software and with non-Apple devices, but functionality is limited.
*The tests were conducted by Apple in July and August 2024 using AirPods Max prototypes connected to iPhone 16 Pro Max device prototypes; all running software prototypes. During the tests, the AirPods Max battery was completely discharged by means of playback. A playlist with 358 individual audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (256 kbit/s AAC), a mobile phone call or a video 2 hours and 23 minutes long was used, repeating it in an endless loop until the AirPods Max stopped playing. The volume was set to 50%. Active Noise Cancellation was turned on. 3D audio was set to "Fixed". 3D audio was set to head tracking for video playback only. The battery runtime depends on device settings, the surroundings, usage and many other factors.
